Over the past decade, wooden jewelry has become increasingly popular from wooden wedding bands to chic statement necklaces. Wood's beauty lends itself to various uses, with jewelry being a great example. You may be asking yourself if wooden jewelry comes with an extensive care regimen to maintain its beauty. All in all, wood jewelry is surprisingly simple to maintain!
This custom wood ring is finished with a durable acrylic coating and features a real bass string!
Our jewelry is finished with either an acrylic coating (for our wood rings) or tung oil (For our other wood pieces). Both of these durable finishes provide water resistance and maintain the wood's natural beauty. Read on to find out how to care for wood jewelry!
1. Clean Gently
To clean your wood jewelry, use a soft, dry 100% cotton flannel or microfiber cloth to gently wipe away any dirt or debris. If your jewelry needs a deeper cleaning, you can use a small amount of mild soap diluted in water. Make sure to dry your pieces thoroughly after cleaning.
To buff your jewelry after cleaning, apply more pressure and rub back and forth with your flannel cloth to restore shine.
2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
it is best to avoid harsh chemicals such as acetone or paint thinner that can damage the wood's finish over time.
When using hand sanitizer, remove your ring before applying, then put it back on once dry.
3. Water Exposure?
Handwashing with an Arcwood ring is completely okay
Some types of wood jewelry can get wet, while some may be better to avoid water altogether.
Our wood rings with their tough acrylic finish can stand up to everyday handwashing and most water contact. We do not recommend total submersion over an extended period of time such as swimming. While we haven't seen our jewelry degrade with this happening from time to time, It's better to be safe than sorry!
Pieces finished with oil (such as our pure tung oil finished pieces) are water-resistant but not waterproof. They can withstand light water contact but we recommend avoiding getting them wet.
4. Storage
Store your wood jewelry in a dry environment preferably lined with a soft material such as velvet.
Place a silica packet or two in the place you store your jewelry to keep the area dry.
All in all, maintaining and caring for your wood jewelry is very simple and straightforward! You can contact us at any time if you have any questions about caring for your Arcwood Jewelry pieces.
